Get Your Heads in the Cloud
With the Internet, people do not need to be in
the same office, or even in the same city to
work on the same project. It’s possible to
collaborate from anywhere in the world, just as
long as you have an Internet connection.
“The Cloud” is a place on the Internet where
files and applications are stored and can be
accessed by people in multiple locations who
can share and work on the same files. Dropbox
and Google Drive are two popular cloud-based
services. When you save your document, the
document updates for all others who have
Cloud-based access to that document. This
process is known as syncing.
Here’s how it works. You edit your document
and save it in your Google Drive or Dropbox
folder. The modified document is
automatically updated in the Cloud. If there is
an existing version of your document the
document is updated and saved as a revised
document. If a colleague edits and saves a
document in a shared Dropbox or Google
Drive folder, Designer Pro X11 alters you if it
sees a change has been made in your Dropbox
or Google Drive folder. You can also revert
back to a previously saved version if you wish.
It’s all very science fictiony!
The screen capture above shows a Designer Pro X11
website document being edited in Xara Online Designer.
Existing document styles can be applied to the text, text
can be added or deleted. And revisions can be published.
Upon signing out of Xara Online Designer, changes are
synced with Dropbox or Google Drive and persons
with access to this document will see the changes and
additions.

Xara Designer Pro X11 gives you a truly
outstanding set of design tools that let you
create documents, or illustrations, action-

even books, and tools for turning ordinary
photos into exceptional photos. And you can
do it all in one easy-to-use, affordable package.
Xara Designer Pro X11 is also a tremendous
value. In addition to the all the tools and
features, you get a treasure chest of free clip
art, photo art, cartoons and illustrations.
You get free print and web themes that you
can modify to your heart’s content. There are
photo calendars, greeting cards and invitations,
certificates, and logos. There are tons of
widgets for e-commerce, forms, social media.
It’s enough to make your head spin. The free
stuff alone is worth the price of the program!
In addition to 3 brand
new website themes
based on Xara’s wildly
popular demo sites,
there are 70
professionally designed
website templates. Not
just a theme page or two but complete sites
that you can personalize any way you wish.
Around 60 of these website themes come with
Variants so you can create for mobile devices
as well as desktop browsers.
I plan to spend the next year mastering the
cool new spiral SmartShape thingy, and finding
creative ways to use the new Art Brushes.
There just is so much to get excited about here.
And remember, Help is as close as the TG icon
at the bottom of the screen. While the
members of TalkGraphics.com are from all
over the globe, we all have one thing in
common, we love Xara and we love to share
our ideas and to answer your questions and
show you how to get the most out of your Xara
software. When you have created your print or
website masterpiece, post a link in the Xara
Design or Web Design Gallery. If you are
skeptical of my extravagant praise, that’s cool.
You can download a free, fully functional 30-
day trial copy and see for yourself.
